Tips on Shopping at Hot Topic

When I was first researching goth and it's fashion I came across many tips saying to saw away from Hot Topic.  I have only ever been in there now twice myself but have been on their website many times.  But I do have a few things to say about it.
First of, Hot Topic is not cheap at all and you could get the same stuff cheaper else where.  Second I don't like the idea that anyone can walk out with a whole gothy wardrobe, like the posers do.  Third, their really just a mainstream chain store like any other mainstream chain store but with a little different attire inside.  I don't know about you but I rather not buy a goth brand anything there, like Tripp.

But now not everyone wants to buy things online all the time.  So here are some tips on Hot Topic:

• Treat it as any other mainstream chain store, like it is.  It's not something to avoid, after all a lot of the stuff in there isn't necessarily "goth", in fact I see a lot of skaters and emos go in there.
• Don't buy too much of the goth brands such as Tripp from there just because it going to them so they can put more out.  I rather buy elsewhere.  And the reason I say too much is if you hate buying things online all the time and you live out where there are no actual gothy stores (like myself).
• Accessories I think are fine to get there if you want.  But take note that if there is a Hot Topic there is bound to be a Claire's and Claire's from what I've seen is cheaper and has better stuff.

So there you have it, that is my opinion on shopping at Hot Topic, and a few tips.  This is for anyone who cares to read this.  And to be quite frank with you all I thought about doing this but instead put it off for some time thinking worrying if it would be any good writing this.  But I did and I'll I can say it" take it or leave it, in the nicest way possible.  Now that it's done, though, I feel much better.

P.S.  I might have a hair post up soon depending on the way things go.  I was planning on buying some red dye and redying my hair myself, but all that is up to if my mom will take me to get some and if I have anytime to do it.

When You Are Ready

I don't know why I felt like writing this but it just happen to cross my mind and since it is night I usually go off into a world, place, and time of my own.  Not like a out of this world kind of place just where I escape this place.  Night is usually where the beautiful things happen, where I wake up and my eyes are open.

Have you ever felt like you're the only one who feels as though you're not ready for what is to come?  Because I must say I feel that all the time.  Like for example, I still think kissing is, well, gross.  No really, that's how I feel about it and I'm sixteen.  Now I am fine with that and don't want to change who I am, but it bugs me because I do feel as though stuff like that is slowly creeping up on me and I'm just simply not there.  Speaking of which, I'm just now starting to find guys more appealing if you will.  I think I'm just a slow bloomer honestly.  But it seems as though I can't find a place for me to feel comfortable with me being that way.  But that is just how life is sometimes.  You can't always find a place to be comfortable in like that.  At least I have God. 

If someone were to ask me why I would even want to believe in God I would answer because I have to.  I have to because without Him I just would be as happy as I am, I couldn't, I know me.  Plus I want to be with Him all too badly.

What I learned from not being ready, which really bothered me, was that 1) I am not alone in this, not ever! 2) ask yourself why, why are you bothered by it, what are you afraid of?  3) society has this idea that we all grow up, if you will, in the same manner: baby, toddler, child, teenager, adult.  And that there is this certian way we go through these stages.  Well not everyone fits that way of it, if that  makes sence.  Like how some people are slow learners while others may be fast, and then there's the majority in the middle.  I don't fit in the "middle" or even the "fast", but the "slow" in this case.  4) trust that God will get you through and that when the time comes you will be ready.  (You may fit this last part you yourself as you please.)

So you're not ready, you may never be, but that's okay.  You will be okay.

P.S.  It's amazing how real your characters become when writing your own story, as if they truly are real.  In fact they are, aren't they?  They are apart of you.  And how would my lovely readers feel if at least every once a month, or less, I wrote an excerpt from my story?

Creation with Beads

When I was younger (like eight) my friends and I would make bracelets and necklaces (always way too big) wtih plastic beads and string.  But then as I got older I really didn't care for such things like that.  my grandma bought me a kit with beads (of brighter colors of course), and string when I was twelve.  The box was pink and most of the beads were sparkly and of bright colors, which I really didn't like (and still don't).  Let me tell you, from the ages of eight to thirteen (and maybe a little over) pink was the worst color ever to me, I hated it because to me it was too... too girly for me (even though it's not that way at all on a guy, but that's because he's a guys right?).  And I'm sure you know the rest with the sparkly bright beads... never my thing, it's just too girly (no matter how that sounds).  So I gave it away eventually.  And beads were not my thing.

Till now.

I had bean dying for some new jewelry because I was getting a little tired of mine.  My dear friend of mine made me a wonderful bracelet (shown on a post of DIY & Creation), and I love it!  Another dear friend of mine has made her own chokers, with beads, and I just love them.  So then the idea popped up that why should I make my own?  Make my own necklaces and chokers, etc.  I saw Micheals had a sale on beads, and there was a coupon for 40% off any regular priced item; and I just had to go.

I love pruple and black together for whatever reason, it just makes me smile.  I actually made it while I was at my best friend's who gave me the bracelet, and since there wasn't enough clear beads to go around on either side of the black ones she let me use some metal ones.  The beads were on sale for 2 for $6.  I used the coupon for the pendant.

I love the look of celtic crosses, they're beautiful and oddly remind me of graveyards.

I must say I am very happy with it, and it was really easy and fun, and only cost me just over $8!  I can't wait to make more, I love making things and always will.

It's been a little over a week, and I can't promise a post next week if I'm going to be gone.  But I hope you enjoyed this post.  Excuse me for being so rambly (yes rambly) on the first part, I do that sometimes, but who doesn't.

Is It Okay For A Goth To Listen To Non-Gothy Music?

So, is it okay for a goth to listen to non-gothy music?  Sure.  But what if you listen to lots more non-goth music than goth music.  Is that okay?  And what if the list of non-goth bands is bigger than the list of goth bands?  I would like to hear what you think.

Bauhaus, I love them!

Yes I think it's fine.  You see, when I was first getting to know about goth I thought that I would end up looking like (you know...) a poser, and that maybe I didn't belong here either.  But after a while I realized that that was just not true.  It's all about being yourself.  I love Bauhaus, Siouxie and the Banshees, The Cure, and Skeletal Family (off the top of my mind), plus certain songs from Switchblade Symphony, Emilie Autumn, The Damned, Bella Morte, Ashbury Heights, etc.  Each in a different genera, or similar. 

But see, I can name so many other bands that are not goth at all that I love too, and in all different or similar genera of music.  Like I just love to listen to pop-punk, like Stellar Kart, Hawk Nelson, and FM Static.  I mean who likes just on genera of music, really?

A lot of these bands I listen to are either Christian and/or goth, with a little bit of other stuff.  A couple of songs I like happen to be Christian rap/hip hop, and I hate that stuff (but there is always and exception).  A lot of the bands I listen to that are not goth at all are ones I've listened to for a long time and I just can never stop listening to them.  And lately I can't get enough of Skellar Kart's song "All My Heart", Loftland's song "Animosity", or Creature Feature period.  See that?  All three kinds of different music right there.

So I think it's perfectly fine if someone listens to other music even if it is more than they do their beloved goth bands at times.  I listen to the music that suits me at the moment, that gets stuck in my head (like last week The Art Of Suicide by Emilie Autumn), what catches my ear, mood, and emotions.  Lots of people do.

So if your new or a babybat (like I was recently, and sometimes still am) just listen to they music that makes you happy, no matter what.  After all my two top favorite bands ever are Thousand Foot Krutch (rock/alternative) and The Birthday Massacre (new wave/rock/industrial).

My Hair and How It Has Lasted

So a you know I got my hair died, on Tuesday, May 24th.  I went down town to the ACME Beauty Salon, where I also got my purplw hair extentions a while back.  The dye was one that lightened the hair while coloring it at the same time, which took an hour.  Well, the first time the back and underneathe parts of my hair turned a samon/blonde/orange color so the lady did it all again which took another hour.  But the results were GREAT!  I loved it! 

This was taken after I got home, but in real life it was much more vibrant of a red.



I took this a few days later after my first hair wash.  The color still awesome.

Not the best picture of me.  It was taken on the 4th, mainly because I was curious to see how much it faded almost 6 weeks.  It still looks good, just not great. 





I was tired that day because of the day before, and I look like I am washed of all color.  But it happens.



So yes, at six weeks it has faded quite a bit, and you can see a few places where color didn't want to stay, but I think I'll leave it for some of the summer and die it again just because I loved it so much.  I don't think it will fade too much more since it's stayed the same for a couple of weeks now.  And I don't want to try and grow it out, so when I'm done I think I'll dye it closer to my real color.

My Non-Psot Post

Yes, it's been almost exactly a month since my last post, which I do feel quite bad about frankly and so I'm sorry.  I just needed a big, long break from everything because I just needed to relax.  It's summer, I have no school (except math and studying the drivers mannual).  And I've been reading The Chronicles of Narnia, which I've been dying to read for quite some time now.  But I will try to at least do a post every once a week for now, so you can at least expect that.

Currently I have been mostly being lazy: watching TV, listening to music, and sleeping.  Ad on the 3rd my family and I finally did something, we went to the mountains for a day, but then on the way home our van died so we coasted 10 miles to Red Lodge and my grandma came and got us.  And it's at least and hour from Red Lodge back to Billings.  And then of course the 4th of July.  Our church, Harvest, does a firework show every year up at Castle Rock Park and happens to be the only firework display in Billings, so we watched that at my grandma's.  Which was awesome.

I also really haven't had much ideas to write about as of late.  But these things happen and they never last for long.  And as you may have seen from the side, I have put up a voting poll for you to choose what you want to see more of here.  It will last for a month.
